Mizuinari Jinja (Mizuinari Shinto Shrine)

There was a famous spot called Takadafuji mound in Edo era to the north of Hosenji, and around Waseda University building 9. In the mid-Edo era, Fuji faith, referring to the host of religious beliefs and practices associated with Fuji, became accepted, and many imitations of Mount Fuji called "Fuji mound" were made in many places of Japan. Among all the mounds, Takadafuji is the oldest one in Edo, and was made in 1779 by Takada village's gardener Fujishiro Takada. Takadafuji mound was broken down between 1963 and 1964 when Waseda University bought a land in order to establish Mizuinari Shrine. The mound was restored inside the shrine. There is Waseda University building 9 in where there used be the original Takadafuji mound.
