Suehirotei

Builit in 1946, Suehirotei is an esteemed Rakugo (comedic storytelling) and Iromono theater that has held regular performances since Edo era (1603-1868). Made of wood, this distinguished looking building has both Japanese tatami seats and chairs available for the audience.

Suehirotei changes its performances and programs every 10 days, and holds late night shows performed by yound comic story tellers every Saturday night.

The first day of a month through the 10th are called kamiseki, the 11th day through the 20th are nakaseki, and the 21st to 30th are shimoseki. Two different rakugo associations performs for 10 days one after the other. On Decemebr 29th and the 31st of every month, there is a special performance called "Yoichikai".
