Kabuki-cho was born in 1947. It was named after the restoration program to emerge from the damage of war by inviting Kabuki theaters. Though the program failed to attract Kabuki theaters, many recreational facilities such as theaters, restaurants were built in the 1950s, and Kabuki-cho became the largest entertainment district in Japan. These days, the local government is attempting to make Kabuki-cho safer for everyone.
