Otomeyama Koen (Shogun's Reserve)

The "Mt. young girl" whole area is said with the put name from "hunting-prohibited mountain" of meaning of Closed to the Public in the hunting ground of family to inherit the shogunate of the Edo era. After the Meiji era, we divided mountain into the north and south, and the Somas owned the south side person of Imperial Guardsman in the north side. Abira, Nagaoka constructed garden with thing of style of Japanese garden with a pond in the center in 1914. It was this part that remained, and local cultured person petitioned in park which went to ruin after the war, and "Otomeyama Koen (Shogun's Reserve)" was born now as municipal park in 1969. Because it was habitat of firefly, the Ochiai whole area begins artificial culture of fireflies in the old days led by strange original Terakawa in this garden in ward, and it is known even to have succeeded in this. Evening of firefly admiration is held every year in the end of July.
