Plan exhibition "scenery to see in thought "mammoinkaku*" (mammouingasyu) to far-off continent" is started on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in Peace Memorial Museum.
In this exhibition, we take up "mammoinkaku*" (mammouingasyu) which Peace Memorial Museum possesses. This is photo album which association of sub-east seal image based in Dalian in China issued. As well as scenery famous spot of China, Manchurian, Mongolia, we introduced information for life and manners and customs of people who lived there in photograph and commentary sentence, and, from 1924 (Taisho 13), several pieces were distributed to 7,000 a month members as every set. It is issued regularly later until "ahigashiinkaku*" and change of the title, 1944, and we produce many picture postcards and film stars pictures as the first edition, and this is distributed. Photograph put in mammoinkaku* was photographed with intention that we introduced unusually plain local state to at this time.
Japan sent many people to Manchurian as national policy and pushed forward the settlement before the war. The media did not develop like the present, and, in the times when it was not easy to know the overseas situation for general Japanese, people held admiration in unknown scenery through such collection of photographs and book, commercially available picture postcard and crossed to unseen ground, Manchurian for the new world.
Sense of admirations from many photographs becoming preceding paragraph of withdrawal from Manchurian to the new world that people had about 100 years ago is felt.
*In original commentary sentence of display work, there is part which injustice, inappropriate expression and phrase, discriminatory expression are seen in in light of modern history recognition and conventional wisdom partly. In consideration of background of Era at the time of publication and significance of information about this work, please note that you add only explanatory note and old kanji contrast of phrase and display.
